Tablet for a youngster with Autistic Spectrum Disorder

iPad for autistic child in Brierley HillFive year old Alex from Brierley Hill has a diagnosis of autistic spectrum disorder.  This means he has difficulties with feeding, behaviour and learning.

Alex attends Pens Meadow School where staff have recognised that he responds well to a range of programmes – including Alphablocks and Dear Zoo – provided on computers and tablets.

Both the school and Alex’s occupational therapist have highlighted that having access to the same programmes at home would provide many benefits.  Apart from providing Alex with an enjoyable and educational pastime it would also give his mum some respite from Alex’s behavioural problems.

It was our great pleasure, therefore, to be able to present Alex with a specialist tablet computer so that he can watch the programmes in his own time.  We know that Alex’s mum is also very grateful for the opportunity the tablet presents in helping her care for his welfare.
