Trike for a little boy with Quadraplegic Cerebral Palsy

Sebastian gets a cool trike - Halesowen disabled children's charityUnfortunately Sebastian wasn’t able to able to take part in the fun and games because of the effects of  Quadraplegic Cerebral Palsy, which has weakened his legs and made it difficult to use his right arm.

The Friends of Alfie Johnson were pleased to receive an application from Sebastian’s Mum to help purchase a Colt Tricycle, a specialist trike that will give Sebastian independent mobility and provide beneficial exercise for his leg muscles.  The trike features a “fixed drive”, which means that as the pedal rotates the drive wheel rotates – apparently this creates momentum to assist pedalling.  It also has a special lateral support saddle, footplates and ankle foot orthoses which provide stability.

As you can see in the picture Sebastian has received his trike and already looks pretty comfortable on it. Must be something to do with the “Cool Britannia” wheel covers – he’s just raring to go and play with his brothers.

We are grateful to Lutley Kindergarten, which Sebastian attends, and the Community Paediatric Physiotherapy Service in Amblecote for supporting the application.

Your support allows us to keep supporting children like Sebastian.  Thank you so much for continuing to raise money on our behalf.

As always if you know of a child with disabilities (or their parents and carers) who needs help please let us know.  Call us on 07863 145801 or 07766 262430, or email
