Snooks-Snooker and Pool Hall on Long Lane, Blackheath held an evening with John Parrot at the club which proved to be a bit hit. The event was a huge success, raising £1070.00 for Alfie. Club owner, Mike Rizzo had this to say:
"We regularly hold exhibition evenings with current and former snooker stars at the club which prove to be extremely popular with club members and the public. We have hosted a number of top players including Steve Davis, Jimmy White, Cliff Thorburn and Joe Johnson plus many more.
On Friday 11th June, John Parrot attended our evening which went down a storm with everyone who attended. Members got the chance to play John and some gave him a good game. He was an absolute gentleman and kept the crowd entertained.
The event was also held to raise money for a wonderful little boy called Alfie, who suffers with Cerebral Palsy. His dad Paul, uncle Gary and uncle Mark came along for the evening to show thier support. Paul even got to play John at the end of the evening, but unfortunately didn't pot a ball as John cleared up with a break of 100. He took it well though.
We also held an auction to play a frame of snooker with John Parrot on the evening, which went for £400, one lucky member got to play him but he too succumbed to John's skills. The night was a great success and I was thrilled to be able to support such a fantastic cause".
Event organiser, Kurt Jasper added:
"The evening was great fun. It was great to meet Alfie's dad, Paul and to here about the good work the organisation are doing for him. Everyone was in good spirits and people loved meeting John and watching him play.
When I heard about Alfie through Alfie's uncle Mark, I just had to do something to help. Being able to raise money for little Alfie has been a pleasure, everyone was so generous during the evening. We anticipate that around a £1,000 will be raised for Alfie from the event. I hope it goes some way to improve the quality of his life as he deserves nothing but the best".
The Friends of Alfie Johnson are extremley grateful to Mike, Kurt and everyone who donated to our cause during the evening. The funds raised will allow us to continue the positive work we do to enhance Alfie's quality of life.
