Quiz Night 2017

The Friends of Alfie Johnson Annual Quiz Night has become another fixture in our fundraising calendar.

Last year’s quiz attracted a sell-out 50 teams of four people. We raised over £2,300 in ticket sales, raffle tickets and bar receipts – the most yet from a Quiz Night.

As soon as bookings have been finalised we let you know about dates and locations.

Raising money for disabled children around Dudley, Sandwell and Wolverhampton
Long-time supporters of the charity, Lewis Smith & Co. the Dudley-based accountants, decided to sponsor the event in 2016. Apart from their financial support they were able to stoke up local professional rivalries by inviting teams from the accountancy, legal and financial professions to take part.  This helped further raise the profile of the quiz and helped us achieve our sell-out.

We were also delighted to be joined by the Mayor of Dudley who not only restated his support for the Friends of Alfie Johnson as one of his 3 chosen charities but entered a team in the quiz too.

On the night ticket sales, takings from Alfie’s Arms (our pop-up bar) and proceeds from a raffle were supplemented by a surprise donation from TSB. Local branches at Old Hill, Merry Hill and Stourbridge are supporting our charity this year and the quiz was their first opportunity to tun out in strength and give us £300.

Lewis Smith & Co.’s tenure as quiz trophy holders was usurped this year by fellow accountants Wilkes Tranter with Griffiths & Pegg coming as runners-up.

The evening involved great effort from all of the participants, and from the team of volunteers helping with the set-up and operation of the evening’s activity.

A big thank you to everybody.
