Our fundraisers have been braving the elements and everything the course could throw at them.

The Great Midlands Fun Run (GMFR) is an arduous 8.5 mile trek that takes participants from Sutton Coldfield town centre through Sutton Park and back into town to the finish line.

The route takes in the dreaded “Cardiac Hill”, a very steep climb up a narrow lane on the edge of the park that catches out both newbies and seasoned runners.  The Friends of Alfie Johnson are always well represented by “Team Alfie” –  a group of supporters who run (or walk) the course to raise money for our cause.

We won’t know exactly how much has been raised until November, when the event organisers unveil both the grand total and that of the individual charities being helped.  It may not be quite as much as in 2016 when we raised £11,248, but then we did have the support of Sutton Coldfield Girls Grammar School.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Team Alfie.

Every penny goes to helping disabled children in the Black Country.
